Human Mobile Devices (HMD) has launched a new range of niche phones for those looking for alternatives to iPhone and Android flagships. The launch happened at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

The new HMD family is designed to address excessive screen time and online safety for minors, in line with the brand’s commitment to responsible technology.

HMD Fusion X1: A Phone for Teens with Built-in Parental Controls

Leading the pack is the HMD Fusion X1, co-developed with Xplora. This phone is designed to promote healthy digital habits for teenagers by having parental controls and limiting access to social media and internet – unless explicitly enabled by a guardian.

HMD’s launch comes after research involving 25,000 children and adults worldwide found that over half of children have been contacted by strangers online. The Fusion X1 aims to mitigate these risks by offering a safer digital environment for young users.

HMD x FC Barcelona Collaboration: A Treat for Football Fans

HMD has partnered with FC Barcelona to launch two exclusive devices:

  • HMD Barça 3210

  • HMD Barça Fusion

These fan-centric devices come with special experiences like personalized messages from Barcelona stars like Robert Lewandowski.

Feature Phones and Wireless Audio Innovations

HMD is doubling down on its feature phone legacy with:

  • HMD 130 & HMD 150 Music – Compact phones with big speakers, FM radios and long battery life.

  • HMD 2660 Flip – A style flip phone that promotes digital detox while offering basic functionality.

On the audio front, the HMD Amped Buds are the first wireless earbuds with a charging case that magnetically powers up a phone, so you’ll never run out of power or music. They have an 90-hour playback time.
