Expert Tips For Having A Smooth and Successful Placement
-
Beat the Rush: Every year, the last 48 hours of the portal's opening get pretty brutal - with many students applying at the same time. Don't end up missing the boat on May 5th because the system just happens to be running slow.
-
The C+ Conundrum: If you scraped by with a C+, dont get stuck feeling like your only option is a degree course. You're actually eligible for Diploma options too. So if you're really passionate about something technical course, dont pick a degree just because you made the cut.
-
The Small Print on Subject Requirements: Many students miss the "minimum subject grades" requirement. So - say you got an A- overall but a D+ in Maths. That might just knock you out of the running for certain Engineering or Business degrees.
-
KMTC Students: For those who had to retake certain subjects to get into KMTC, you've got a bit more to wait. The application window for the September intake opens at a later date, once the main university placement is all wrapped up.
Can You Change Your Mind After the Initial Placement?
Yes you can change your mind. If you go "oh no, thats not the course for me" or your career path changes, you can usually revise your application after the first round of placements. But be warned, spots in super competitive courses like Medicine, Law or Engineering will usually be pretty much all filled up by the end of round one. So get it right first time if you can.
