KUCCPS Releases Degree Cut-Off Points for 2025/2026 Placement After 2025 KCSE

Admin Feb 11, 2026

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has finally released the 2025 KCSE results cut-off points which will act as a guide for candidates, parents and schools to navigate university placements for the upcoming 2025/26 academic year. The release is an essential tool for planning because it gives a clear view of the competition trends across all sorts of universities and programs.

The cut-off points that have been published are the lowest points achieved by the final student to get through in last years placement cycle . So they are used as a benchmark for how the upcoming placement will go.

How KUCCPS Works Out Cut-Off Points

From what KUCCPS has said, the cut-off points change every year and are influenced by 3 main things:

  • how much interest there is in a particular course,

  • how much space there is at each university, and

  • how well students did in the KCSE exam.

It's the reason why some courses can change quite a bit from one year to another - even in the same university.

Its no surprise that competitive programs such as medicine, pharmacy, engineering, architecture and computer science are always going to be up there with the highest cut-off points, particularly in places like the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University and JKUAT.

Additionally, KUCCPS has reduced the cut-off points for a few humanities, education and basic sciences courses in a few universities as its trying to open up more spots in universities.

KUCCPS - Leadership and Oversight

KUCCPS chief exec Agnes Wahome recently had a chat with the Public Investments Committee on Education and Governance of the National Assembly on the 4th of June 2025, where they talked about placement and all that. The real takeaway here is that people are starting to keep a closer eye on how all of this affects public university places.
