Kenya Airways Named Official Airline Partner for Magical Kenya Open 2026
Kenya Airways has been confirmed as the Official Airline Partner of the 2026 Magical Kenya Open - a title that fittingly underscores it's role in supporting big international sporting events.
The MKO 2026 will get underway from February 19th to the 22nd, 2026, at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi - and will draw in some of the best golfers in both the local and international scenes.
Underpinning the Tournament's Global Ambitions
As part of this partnership with KQ, the airline will be providing all sorts of logistical and travel support to make sure the event goes off as smoothly as possible.
The Logistics of Moving People and Stuff
KQ will be offering 20 flight tickets to its international network, a major support to have when you need to move tournament staff around and in ensuring international coordination.
Getting the Players to Nairobi on the Cheap
To help make the event more accessible for the competing players and their fans, Kenya Airways is also offering reduced fares to anyone looking to fly in to Nairobi for the tournament.
Lifting the Local Golf Talent
The airline is also backing Kenya's top golfers by sponsoring four top local players:
-
Justus Madoya is one name to watch out for.
-
Another name on the list is Dismas Indiza.
-
You'll also see the name of Isaiah Otuke.
-
And then there's Jacob Okello.
This move is a great example of how committed KQ is to building up home-grown talent while showing the world just how much Kenya has to offer.
The Long-View Approach of Kenya Airways
Julius Thairu talked about the partnership in very positive terms, saying it's all part of a wider strategy to put Kenya on the map as a premier golf destination.
He's observed that over time the partnership had become more than just a case of the airline handing over some cash - it's really turned into a way of showcasing Kenya's sporting talent and the beauty of our country.
Zuhura Ogada, who's in charge of PR and comms at the Kenya Open Golf, stressed just how valuable Kenya Airways was in making sure that international players can get here without a hitch - and that the tournament stays top class.
How Kenya Airways is Pushing the Boundaries in Aviation
Now, I know what you're thinking - "isn't this just another case of the airline slapping its name on the side of a golf tournament and calling it a day?" No, not quite. Kenya Airways is actually going to be using the MKO 2026 to showcase some forward-thinking innovations in aviation tech that its sister company Fahari Aviation has been working on.
Kenya Airways - the Global Network
Kenya Airways operates flights to 42 destinations around the world, including 37 in Africa. And because we're part of the SkyTeam Alliance, we're able to connect passengers to over 1,060 destinations globally through our partners.
By linking up with the Magical Kenya Open, Kenya Airways is continuing to build on its reputation as a connector of people, sport and tourism - and helping to put Nairobi firmly on the map as a major hub for international events.
