The transition from Junior Secondary to Senior School is a major milestone in a students' Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) journey. With the KJSEA results now officially out, parents, guardians and learners are all eager to see how they did and figure out their next academic steps.

Whether your just after one persons result or a whole list for your school, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has set up some pretty user-friendly digital tools to help make this process as pain free as possible.

1. How to Check Your Individual Results Online

The most straightforward way to get a look at your results is through the KJSEA website - this is free to use and gives you a quick snapshot of how you did.

So Here's What You Need To Do:

  1. Go visit the KJSEA result website: kjsea.knec.ac.ke - just open up a web browser and pop the address in.

  2. You'll need to enter a couple of bits of information:

    • Assessment Number: the learners unique number for the assessment.

    • Name: just pop in at least one of the child’s registered names.

  3. Take a glance at the Data Privacy and Access Notice, tick the box to say you've accepted it all.

  4. Click the "Search Results" button - you should be able to see your results right there on the screen.

2. Checking Results On Your Phone via SMS

If you don't have good internet access then the KNEC will always send your results to you via SMS - this is often a good idea during peak times when the website is being a bit slow.

  • What To Do: just send the learners Assessment Number to the official number 22263.

  • Cost: each message costs KES 30.

  • Note: this service is just for checking the results and your Senior School placement status.

3. For Schools: Looking at Results On The CBA Portal

If you're a School Head then you can get all your results for all your students on one page by logging into the cba.knec.ac.ke portal.

So Here's What To Do:

  1. Just login with your school credentials - this will take you straight to the dashboard.

  2. Look for the "Results" menu.

  3. Click on the "Download link" for the full list of your schools results.

  4. Schools are then responsible for getting the official provisional result slips signed and handed out to the parents.

Understanding Your Results

Unlike the old grading system, KJSEA results focus on Performance Descriptors that help place students into one of three Senior School pathways: STEM, Social Sciences, or Arts and Sports.

Descriptor Point Range Meaning
EE (1-2) 7 - 8 Exceeding Expectation
ME (1-2) 5 - 6 Meeting Expectation
AE (1-2) 3 - 4 Approaching Expectation
BE (1-2) 1 - 2 Below Expectation

Important Contacts for Queries

If there are discrepancies in the results (such as wrong names or missing subjects), queries must be lodged within 30 days of the release through the Sub-County Director of Education.

Congratulations to all the learners transitioning to Senior School!
