Admin Feb 11, 2026

Co-operative Bank of Kenya and World Vision Kenya have teamed up on a new partnership that is aimed at making a real difference in the way people give to community causes - by making it easier and safer to make donations online.

The two organizations have unveiled the Chapa Pay gateway which is now up and running on the Inuka Angaza online donation platform. This basically means that Kenyans can now contribute to community development without having to worry about the security and safety of online transactions.

The upgrade now lets individuals, companies and even Kenyans living abroad to be able to donate to the Inuka Angaza Fund in real-time. With Chapa Pay powering the system, donors get the peace of mind of secure bank-level transaction protection and instant processing.

Secure and Smoother Online Donations

Through the integration, the platform now has top-notch security standards to protect donor information and transactions.

Some of the cool new features include:

  • 3D Secure Authentication – Adds an extra verification layer for online payments.

  • PCI-DSS Compliance – it's a global standard for keeping sensitive financial data safe and sound.

  • Real-Time Processing – this means that funds are transferred in an instant, so your donations can make a bigger impact quicker.

This means that donors can give with confidence, knowing their cash and personal details are safe and secure, thanks to the robust banking infrastructure behind the system.

Giving a Boost to Local Fundraising

As part of the partnership, Co-operative Bank has chipped in Ksh. 4 million to the Inuka Angaza Fund. The aim is to collect Ksh. 50 million between FY23 and FY25. So far, the fund has already raised a respectable Ksh. 39 million - a great sign that locals are supporting local development efforts.

Kenya's NGO sector is a big deal, with over 12,600 registered organizations and a total annual budget of Ksh. 196 billion. But these days, more and more international aid money is drying up, so we really need to find new ways to fund our development projects. Benard Osoro, Head of Institutional Banking at Co-operative Bank, reckons that secure online collection tools are the key to making this happen.

Real Impact for Communities

The Inuka Angaza Fund is already proving to be a lifeline for communities in need across the country. The Ksh. 39 million already raised has helped out with some really important projects:

Education

  • We've got 700 kids with all the learning materials they need to succeed

  • And 60 kids are now ready for school thanks to brand new uniforms

Health and Hygiene

  • 1,795 girls are now getting the support they need to stay healthy and confident

Clean Water

  • 837 kids are now able to drink clean water at school

  • And 2,100 households are benefitting from improved water access

These figures are more than just numbers - they represent real change that's happening in people's lives.

Securing Long-Term Development

World Vision Kenya's National Director, Gilbert Kamanga, pointed out that digital giving has become essential for sustaining development programs. By using a secure and reliable payment system, the organization is laying the groundwork for long-term, locally funded impact.

As more and more Kenyans start to make online donations, partnerships like this have the potential to revolutionize the way we fund development initiatives - putting the power back in the hands of local communities and supporters.
