Meet the new Galaxy A36, the latest addition to the A-series family. Building on the A35, the A36 brings better performance, design, cameras and more software support.

New Design and Display

162.7 x 77.9 x 7.4 mm and 195g the A36 has a sleek new design that feels premium yet light. It has a glass front with Gorilla Glass Victus+, plastic frame and glass back for durability at an affordable price.

The display has a slight upgrade 6.7-inch Super AMOLED, up from 6.6 inches on A35. Both have 120Hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2340 resolution but A36 has 1,200 nits peak brightness for better outdoor visibility.

IP67 dust and water-resistant rating remains.

Performance Boost with Snapdragon Power

The A36 has a new processor, moving away from Samsung’s Exynos 1380 to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 built on a 4nm process. This means better performance and power efficiency for gaming, multitasking and daily use.

Storage and RAM options are 128GB or 256GB internal storage and 6GB or 8GB RAM but Samsung has removed the microSD card slot so users must rely on internal storage.

Upgraded Camera System

The A36 has an upgraded camera system with a triple-lens setup:

  • 50MP primary sensor (with OIS)

  • 8MP ultrawide lens

  • 5MP macro sensor

On front Samsung has introduced an upgraded 12MP selfie camera inspired by the Galaxy S24 series for sharper and clearer selfies.

Faster Charging, Same Reliable Battery

The 5,000mAh battery remains the same as A35 but charging speed has increased from 25W to 45W so users can expect faster charging times.

Software Support and AI Features

A big feature of the Galaxy A36 is software longevity. Unlike the A35 that launched with Android 14 and promised four major OS updates, the A36 comes with Android 15 and One UI 7 and will get six major OS updates and six years of security patches. This is the most future-proof mid-range smartphone in the market.

Samsung has also introduced new AI-powered features:

  • Enhanced photo editing tools

  • Circle-to-Search functionality for easy browsing

Price and Availability

The Galaxy A36 retains the $399 price of the A35 and will start at Ksh 52,000 in Kenya.

With better performance, more software support and improved camera, the Galaxy A36 is a strong mid-range player.
